I just want to just wish this was just the real thing

I confess, I used to be a “just” pray-er. “Lord, I just pray that you would, Lord, just use me to just, Lord, work to bring glory to your name, so that, Lord, others would just come to just know you, Father God. Help me, just, Father God, to just, Lord,”…etc etc etc. I have also had my dear friend Rev Elihu refer to these are “Weejus prayers” as in, “We jus ask you Lord…”. Anyway, also from the Holy Observer satire site, a first hand report of how God is dealing with the influx of “justs” coming up in prayers from people here on earth. I just dare you to click here.

Reflections on another interim in my life

A bittersweet day for a University of Colorado sports fan. As one who grew up on the black & gold of CU, its a bittersweet thing today to be saying goodbye to Gary Barnett as the head coach of the football team. I first want to say that I think that it was time for Coach Barnett to go. While there have been no allegations that have been proven to be linked to him over the stuff from the last several years, the time had come. Beyond the wins and losses (especially the disastrous end of this season), it really felt like it was time to make a change. (I sound like I had some role in the decision – that’s a funny one). Yes, 4 Big 12 North titles in 5 years, but one just has to look at the quality of opponents in that divsion to see that that’s not that big of a deal. If ISU had a real kicker, they would have been the back-to-back B12 North champs, so…

Regardless, the thing that I will always look back on and be thankful for with Coach Barnett’s 7 years at CU is the single greatest sports fan memory that I have had and likely ever will have (at least until one of my kids does something amazing on the sports field/court/etc). November 23, 2001 is a day that was unlike any other I have ever witnessed. That day, CU went into their end of season game against Nebraska as huge underdogs. Some 3 hours later, CU walked off the field as 62-36 victors. Bobby Purify, Chris Brown, Bobby Pesavento, etc – guys who just laid it all out on the field that day and gave those 50,000+ CU fans in attendance the time of their lives watching them run and smash the corn all over the field.

Coach Barnett, I wish you the best in whatever you do from here. I hope that you find great success and many blessings. Thanks for the great memories.

62-36…
